Jr. Olympics 2012

We are not sure what was so scary about the Jr. Olympics, but maybe the name in and of itself was what gave Kelsey a serious case of the butterflies.  In fact, the butterflies were so bad, we almost didn’t even make the drive into Seattle to compete today.  Kelsey had Grandma and Grandpa Ballard here to cheer her on.  We left it up to here whether we made the effort and in the end, she was happy with her choice and learned that this race was no different than any of the others.  Yes, there were more people and yes the starting gate was different, but most notably the course was quite tough with a lot of hills and rocks and logs.  She did great and we were proud of her.  She did in fact qualify to go the the state meet in Spokane, but we decided not to make the drive as road conditions weren’t great that weekend and we know there are many years ahead to do such outings.
