Disneyland Surprise
After waiting and waiting and waiting, we finally broke the news to the kids about our upcoming trip to Disneyland. Watch out California, here we come!!! We had bounced back and forth about when to tell them and how to tell the? We finally agreed on letting them know with just a one week notice. I think it would have been fun to do the day of notice, but in the end thought it is kind of fun to anticipate just a little bit about what is to come.
To our delight, the kids were ecstatic and Spencer was hilarious! The suitcases where left on our front porch while mom ding-dong ditched (not really, I stuck around to catch the entire surprise on video), Brian hung in the house to help the kids answer the door. Initially, they weren't quite sure what to think, then Brian hinted to them about what this was all about and they quickly hauled their suitcases inside to see what was inside.
I was hoping that the Disney luggage tags would have given them a clue, but not so much...
A few of the contents of their suitcases all packed with Disney fun. It included: a Disney autograph book, a count-down chain, Tinkerbell pixie dust, Disney shirt, skirt and shoes. It also had a lot of Disney movies so we could watch one each night until we fly out...It is going to be a great count-down week!
These little Disney autograph books were fun to make and I think Kelsey was really thrilled and immediately knew what it was. By the look in her face you can see, she really was amazed!
The three pictures above are where Spencer was simply a crack-up! He was so excited for his sippie cups, swimming diapers, and Disney movies (all of which were his, nothing new...just what was packed in his suitcase). He was so excited for these items, we laughed and laughed when he pulled out his underwear and was jumping up and down...Funny, Funny, Funny SPENCER!
The kids were pretty excited to see their Disney outfits that Grandma Irene and I made. Kelsey never willingly tries anything on, but here she just jumped right up and put on her skirt and asked Spencer if he wanted to put on his shirt. They are going to look super cute at Disneyland!
After all the excitement and them chanting, "We're Going To Disneyland, We're Going To Disneyland" over and over at the top of their lungs, we had them call Papa Carl and Grammy Irene. They were so excited telling them where we were going, but much to their surprise, Papa and Grammy were going to be joining us in California for several days of fun!
