Unexpected Visitor

We had just been home from Alaska a few days when we had an unexpected visitor make his way to our house!  It was GRANDPA CARL............The kids were so excited to have him come and what a long drive it was for him.  The kids had no idea he was coming for a visit, but we are always happy to have him.  We enjoyed an evening out at Lake Wilderness with him as well as an evening making smores in the back yard. Kelsey and Papa went to a few garage sales in the neighborhood and came home with a $4 fish tank.  Well, let us just say "Lizard Tank".    Kelsey has loved lizards since maybe age 3 or 4 and has been saving for a leopard gecko for about 4 years.  She had saved $67 to purchase the tank, heat lamp, heat pad, rock, food and water trays, cricket house, and on and on.  Grandpa Carl put up the rest of the money and the family went to Petco to purchase her first "real" pet.  So, we are now the proud owners of Totem, a baby leopard gecko.  He gets his name (although we don't know if he is a boy or a girl) after the many totem poles that we saw in Alaska.  Kelsey thinks his markings down his back look very much like a totem pole and we agree and what a great name it is.  The kids are in love with him!  Thanks for coming to visit Papa Carl and thanks for making Kelsey's life long dream of owning a pet lizard a reality!
